Wed Aug 13 -- 3 PM

Liesl is still unconscious. Today they were still trying to control her brain pressure; it was 26. It should be below 20. To control it, they give her a drug called Manitol and drain the CSF fluid from her brain.

Her EEG was good in that it was negative for seizures. But she had a temperature that started last night. They covered her with special blankets and had a fan on her to lower her temperature. When Leighton and I left at 1:00 AM, her temperature was decreasing but was still at 102. She is still posturing which is not good. Her nurse and one of her doctors (Dr. Wadhwa) are still uncertain whether she will recover or not. I heard from Graham (her nurse today) that Dr. Cardenas had found more contusions in her brain stem. Dr. Wadhwa says there is hope but that there is no way of knowing what will happen.

We are praying so hard for Liesl, and cannot even believe this accident has happened. I think we are in shock. Sophia is saying prayers all of the time while holding an angel stone we bought on Monday morning...it is the guardian angel for "courage." We also bought a crucifix made out of stone from Jerusalem and have been praying over that--it is in our kitchen so we are thinking of Liesl all of the time. It is my hope that I can give Liesl the crucifix in person when she wakes up. We love you all so much, and we--along with all of our friends in St. Louis--are praying all of the time for her recovery. I do believe in miracles. Uncle Leigh or Leighton--if you see this note, please tell Liesl how much I love her.
Love,
Stefani

Very nicely done. I knew that you didn't really need me to do anything other than encourage you to get this started. You and your family will remain in our prayers

Know that Liesl's SLU family is supporting and loving and praying for her and all of you. Several of Liesl's friends have updated us for which we are deeply grateful. As Fr. Biondi said at commencement, "Liesl is a daughter of Saint Louis University for ever." We will continue to hold you in prayer!

We are still in shock. I have such fond memories of Liesl and all of you when you lived down the street. The girls and I are praying fervently for Liesl's full recovery. I think of you all often during the day and offer prayers each time.......praying that you all have the strength you need right now. There are so many of us storming the gates of heaven on Liesl's behalf. She's a strong girl and we trust in God's mercy!!
Love and prayers,
Lynn C.
