Thur Aug 14 --10 AM

Liesl is making small progress this morning. The cooling blankets are completely removed and her temperature remains normal. She has reduced her "posturing", which is also a good sign. Her ICP is at 12 (normal). The physical therapist was sent to see her this morning. Not sure what that means, but it cannot be bad, right?

She is continuing to breathe ok with the vent; however, the doctor increased the quantity of pushes from the vent so as to help push CO2 out of her body.

More as soon as we have more information.

We are all so grateful for this blog. I have never been on one before and will have to tell Liesl what she got her Aunt to do! (I am not very internet savvy).
I spoke last night on the phone to Leigh's and my brother Hal in Seattle for quite awhile; its comforting to share thoughts. Later after I had just gone to bed, he quickly called me again to find out if I had seen the latest blog. So I jumped out of bed, ran to the computer and there was the uplifting news! Now a while ago, this morning we are receiving more hopeful news.
It is also comforting that everyone is sharing through their messages what we are all feeling and that we are all praying as a chorus to our Lord God. He is hearing us and just wants us to ask and believe.
Bob and I were so fortunate to have been at Leighton and Terra's wedding and to visit with Liesl. I observed how proud Liesl looked at her brother during the ceremony. I also whispered to her how much her Mom and Dad loves her and she nodded that she knew also. We so look forward to when we can see her beautiful smile again.

Thank God, more good news! Yes, having a Physical Therapist working with Lesil is good! Since Leisl is not able to move voluntarily, stiffness will set in the body. However, the Physical Therapist can prevent this, by doing gentle range of motion exercises which involve moving all limbs (hands, fingers and feet included)will keep the limbs limbered.

Thank you for keeping all of us updated on Liesl's condition. Jim and I are constantly thinking of her and saying prayers up above- we know Grandma and Grandpa Becker are her angels, listening, and by her side. I contacted my parish today, and they are going to keep her in the prayers/petitions until she recovers! She is so loved, and I'm so glad I got to see her in May after her graduation from SLU, and witnessed how proud my Uncle was of her accomplishments.
Love, Lori & Jim (cousin)

Thank you so much for starting this blog. Having a network for communication during a time like this is so important. Keith and I were so upset to hear this news about little Leisl. As nurses, we both understand everything you are telling us. And, we are so happy to read that she is improving. So, that is good news. I know this must be a very difficult time for all of you. We pray that God wraps his arms around each of you and the team of people who are caring for her. I have told Faith about the accident. She is taking this concern to her Bible study group in Columbia and they will be lifting her up in prayer.
Again, we are so sorry but do have great hope that she is going to pull through. We look forward to updates.
Love,
Keith and Sara
